The Truth About Reading Scores
When the school district and others ask “Why are reading scores declining so badly?” they want to believe that Baraboo’s reading scores are declining and it’s a widespread issue. Here are the facts from the Department of Public Instruction website:

* Proficiency data for November 2002 and later are not comparable to earlier years. Some subject area tests are given only at grades 4, 8, and 10. FAY = full academic year.
In response
to that statement, CFFR researched on the DPI website how many subgroups showed
declining reading scores and found the following:

The school board and administration should present and promote ALL the facts to the community so we can make an informed decision. They are not. They pick and choose which facts to promote to scare people into thinking things are worse than they really are. When the facts refute their claims, they change their position. No truth, no trust. No trust, no vote.
